Tiny homes are a growing trend, and Tiny Swift, a small house made by Romanian company Eco Tiny House (ETH), offers suitability for harsh UK winters and eco-friendly features, as it is well insulated and has underfloor heating.

The tiny home is an alternative way for someone to own a home when they cannot afford a brick and mortar house. The designers of the home, Szakács Botond and Antoine Dussenne, wanted to create a home that was suitable for harsh Romanian winters, where temperatures can fall as low as -40 degrees Celsius in the mountainous regions. They achieved this by using underfloor heating combined with materials that trap heat inside and resist moisture. In total, 10 centimetres of insulation fills the thermo-treated pine wood walls and roof.

Tiny Swift is a very small home, measuring 6.3 metres in length, 2.53 metres in width and 3.4 metres in height. The home is constructed on a six-metre galvanised steel trailer that has two axles. The house can be easily towed to a site. It costs around £29,000, which includes shipping to any place in Europe. Though the price includes storage units and a bathroom, owners will need to budget extra for sofas, bedding and other items to personalise their home. It has has an upper level sleeping area and room for two more people to sleep downstairs.

Underfloor heating is very versatile as it is suitable for homes of all sizes, from very tiny dwellings to large mansions – it can be used anywhere where even heat is required to keep rooms warm and cosy.
